Description The Congo pygmies are found mainly in the Ituri forest in the Democratic Republic Of Congo, These people traditionally live in bands and are traditionally nomadic, moving to new parts of the forest several times during the year and carrying all their possessions on their backs. The Pygmy masks usually have elaborate features and are usually painted. People, including the Mbuti and Ndaka, of the Ituri rain forest use masks to represent ancestral spirits in elaborate initiation ceremonies. This mask has interesting facial features, huge eyeholes, it has obvious wear marks which shows that the mask was used a few times, a brown patina covering the mask’s surface.
