Tabwa Pot (POT 009)

Description The Tabwa live mainly on the southwestern shores of Lake Tanganyika, on the high grassy plateaus of the Marungu massif in extreme southeastern Congo . Some also live in north easternmost Zambia and along the Luapula River. African pots represent both conceptual ideas and practical utility. At once durable yet fragile, they have endured for centuries and through them, we can start to imagine the artists who shaped their form with their bare hands and crafted their features with crude tools. This pot was possibly used for storing beer or water. The following pot shows great age as well as usage. Material: Clay Age:Approximately 50-60 yrs Origin: Democratic Republic Of Congo Condition: Very Good
